Minnesotans Should NOT Vote for a Republican
I am surprised and shocked that many of the MN elections are close. It amazes me any one in MN would vote Republican. Because Republicans are responsible for many if not most of the problems that face Minnesota residents.
I asked a very close knowledgeable friend of mine why anyone would vote Republican in Minnesota especially with what ICE did and continues to do to residents of MN. She said she thought it was the Minnesota fraud case which may have been poorly handled by Democratic leaders. That may be true, but if fraud is a concern, Democratic fraud is small potatoes compared the Republican fraud. Trump has pardoned over 1,700 individuals including a significant number who have been convicted of white collar crimes. In addition to ending jail time for those pardoned, they no longer had to pay fines and restitution. It is estimated the restitutions which did not happen because of Trump’s pardon’s were almost $2 Billion dollars. This is money which would have gone individuals, familles and companies to help recompense them for their losses. One individual pardoned then donated almost $2 million to Trumps campaign.
For the record, the estimated Minnesota fraud is $250 Million Plus of which $75 Million had been covered as of the end of 2025. The leader has been convicted and will spend years in jail and dozens of others have either been convicted or pleaded guilt. None will be pardoned as Trump only pardons rich people who then give money to his campaign.
For Minnesotans who do vote for a Republican, here is what they are actually voting for, Trump and billionaire outsiders who are funding Republican campaigns. Republicans elected will be servants to Trump and billionaires and will answer to them before even thinking about Minnesotans.
Following is a brief list of what Republicans support and by proxy, anyone who votes for them also supports:
TARIFFS: Because of tariffs, the average household is now paying $2,500 more for the same goods as they bought a as a year ago.
IRAN WAR: In addition to cost increases from tariffs the average family is now paying and additional $1,200 from higher energy costs, higher grocery costs, and higher interest rates costs. In addition, the costs of the war is being added to the federal deficit and we are currently paying interest and no principal on the previous gulf wars.
ICE: Operation Metro Surge in MSP implemented by ICE and supported by Republicans had an estimated economic cost from December, 2025 thru April 2026 of about $700 Million to Minneapolis alone. The total cost to the state of MN is much higher. The murders by ICE agents of Minnesota residents Rene Good and Alex Pretti happened because Republican supported ICE’s illegal and un-American mission. Voting Republican increases the possibility that more Americans including Minnesotans will be traumatized and occasionally die by ICE.
BOUNDARY WATERS: The Boundary Waters is one of the most pristine beautiful areas not just in MN, or the US for that matter, but throughout the globe. It is both a natural and economic resource. Yet Republicans want to open it up to mining and risk permanent damage to this beautiful area. Voting Republican puts the Boundary Waters at even more risk.
CANADA: The trade war with Canada has cost Minnesota almost $5 Billion dollars since January, 2025 or about $2,000 per household. Republicans will continue to support the trade war with Canada which is additional cash out of Minnesotans money our pockets with no benefit to residents of the state.
HEALTH CARE: The US including Minnesota has the most expensive and least efficient heath care of any developed country. The per capita cost of health care in the US is about 50% higher than the next closet country, Switzerland and more than twice the cost of Canadas. There are a variety of reasons why US heath care is both expensive and inefficient, but a main one is we are the only for profit health care system of developed countries. Shareholder payouts total over $170 Billion annually. Your Minnesota health care costs are going to rich people to make them richer. Republicans have consistently supported for profit health care and a main reason is many of their major donors are health care companies.
CLIMATE CHANGE: Climate change is real and has and will continue to affect Minnesotans in a variety of manners. Against all data and information, Republicans continue to believe climate change is hoax. This is a huge mistake and children and grandchildren will pay for this mistake in many ways.
GUN VIOLENCE: There was a school shooting in a MSP elementary school a little over the year. Over a 20-year period, there were 288 school shootings in the US. Most countries had zero or one. A failure to protect their children is the greatest failure of a society. Republicans have never supported any type of gun control. Democrats do. Make a choice, children’s safety or Republicans. It should be an easy decision.
FEDERAL DEFICIT: Under Trump and Republicans the federal deficit has increased, almost $4 Trillion as of August, 2026 in this term. Wealth of top 1% has also increased under Trump and Republicans. No surprise there. The Federal Deficit was $3.2 Trillion in 1990. Today its over $40 Trillion. In 1990 the top 1% owned about 23%, today the top 1% own 33% of the National Wealth or over $60 Trillion. By comparison, the total net worth of the bottom 50% is $4.3 Trillion. Republicans have controlled the Presidency and/or Congress most of these years. A country where the rich get richer and the poorer will not survive.
TAXES: The only way out of the federal debt and budget crisis is to increase taxes on the very wealth. The very wealthy know and that is why they give massive amounts of money to Republican campaigns. For any Minnesotan who votes Republican, they are not voting for quality of life in Minnesota but to protect the interests of the very rich who own the Republican candidates they support.
My uncle Edward was a successful farmer in Northern Minnesota, a wonderful person and a strong Republican. Led by President Eisenhower, he was part of a successful and innovative political party during that time period. I guarantee my uncle Edward would never vote for a Republican in today’s world. Neither would Eisenhower for that matter. Neither should anyone in Minnesota.
