PO’D at Sexual Predators

I tore a guy a new hole the other day at the PB courts. I was getting ready to take a lesson and he was leaving. I regularly take lessons and they have really helped my game. This was a new instructor who had just finished college. At one time she was ranked 15th in world in Women’s Singles PB, but stopped playing to finish college and focus on being a collegiate swimmer. Needless to say, she is very good.

Anyway as the guy was leaving he looked at me and asked I was taking a lesson from her. I said yes and then he made an incredibly offensive sexual comment. And I got PO’d, very PO’d and laid into him. I told him he was inappropriate and offensive and essentially should be ashamed of himself. At first I could tell he was getting angry and then embarrassed and finally he apologized. I think he assumed I would agree with him and I suspect he was surprised at how angry I was.

Which has left me with the question, why was I so angry and still am for that matter.

Though I am neither, I certainly understand people of all ages, sizes and sexualities find others attractive or “hot”. And that’s a good thing. But making inappropriate statements to complete stranger in this type of setting is different. I have been around men making inappropriate sexual comments my entire life, so why did this one make me so angry. After some thought, I realized there are several reasons.

One, we as a country elected a sexual predator as the President, which certainly normalizes it. And Trump is a sexual predator. If you google Trump and sexual predator the list of stories or examples is extensive and sad. Before the 2016 election he was recorded on tape saying he would grab women by their private areas and he could get away with it because he was a star. That is just one example, there are many more. Keep in mind, this was on tape confirmed by the host, Billy Bush.

Some would say its all made up by the liberal press. That’s just stupid, no one can intelligently argue that Trump is not a sexual predator. Others may argue that it true for a lot of men in power. This is not an excuse. And for the record, there is a world of difference between a sexual predator using his power to take advantage of women and two people in a consensual relationship regardless of each of their personal circumstances. The first is evil, the second is none of our business.

Two, sexual predators are rampant through out society. One example is movie producer Harvey Weinstein who has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment and was convicted of sexual assault in 2025 by NY Court. Actresses Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino believed they were blacklisted by Weinstein to Peter Jackson for roles in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy because they had rejected his sexual advances. Peter Jackson confirmed this happened. How many women have had their careers affected when they have rejected unwanted advances by sexual predators? When will our society say enough is enough. How do we protect our granddaughters from having their careers affected by sexual predators.

Three, the above example is obvious of a sexual predator. A not so obvious example is Peter Hegseth, Secretary of Defense, who reposted a video by Evangelical Pastors stating women should not be allowed to vote and the Constitution should be changed to reflect this. For the record these Pastors do not follow the teachings of Jesus which is that men and women are equal. That the Secretary of Defense believes this is not a surprise, but it is very scary. He is essentially stating women are not equal to men and this makes it easier for women to be targets for sexual discrimination and sexual predators.

I suspect the guy at the beginning voted for Trump. Seems like they have stuff in common. As a father, father-in-law, grandfather of girls and friend to many many women, I will not tolerate ignorant sexist comments like this because I believe it is the first step to becoming a sexual predator.

The Revolutionary War was between the Colonies and Great Britain. The Civil War was fought between the South and North. I suspect the next internal war will be fought on two fronts. One of these two fronts will be men who want women to be second class citizens against women along with the men like me who support women being free and equal. Not accepting ugly stupid comments is but a small skirmish in this war, but an important one. .
