My Trump Report Card

Following is my Trump report card YTD. All of the of issues on my report card are are ones on which I have often commented and are important to me.

Climate Change: The science behind climate change is undeniable. One can look at the increasing frequency and costs of natural disasters. Costs are both economic and human. We cannot stop climate change, but we can plan for it and mitigate its effects using science, research, and innovation. Our primary tools to address climate change are NOAA and the National Weather Service. Trump reduced funding both for both which means he has no understanding of the current and future effects of climate change. Trump also pulled out of the Paris Agreement which is a global initiative to address climate change. Trump’s Grade – F.

Women’s Rights: There is an attack on women’s rights in the US and Trump is a leader. Recently one of his cabinet members reposted a video by an evangelical minister stating that women should not be allowed to vote. Another supporter of Trump stated that Taylor Swift should submit to her husband. Taylor Swift nor any women should never submit to their husband, boyfriend, partner, or whatever. Women are equal to men in all respects and should be so considered. This means each woman is in charge of her own personal heath care which includes reproductive decisions. Jesus never said anything about abortion and treated men and women as equals. Any belief to the contrary is a false narrative written by men. Trump’s Grade – F-.

Federal Deficit: The current Federal Deficit is almost $38 Trillion. This means that every person in the US has federal debt of about $109,000 including every child. No child has made political decisions contributing to the Deficit nor anyone in their 20’s or 30’s for that matter. The Federal Deficit increased almost $8 Trillion during the first Trump presidency and I suspect he will surpass that amount in this Presidency. [The Biden Presidency also increased the Deficit by slightly over $8 Trillion.] A number of independent analyses project Trump’s One Big Beautiful BillAct (OBBBA) will continue to increase federal deficits over the next decade at a faster rate. Primarily because government spending cuts are more than offset by extending and increasing the tax cuts from the first Trump Presidency. The reality is the only way to address Federal Deficit will be increase income and estate taxes on the very wealthy. Trump will not do so. Trump’s Grade – F.

The Economy: Trump’s tariffs have and will continue to have a negative effect on the economy. Though I suspect there are still Trump supporters who think other countries pay tariffs the reality is US companies pay the tariffs which they ultimately pass on to consumers and US tax payers in way or another. An example of what I suspect will happen to many US businesses going forward is what happened to US soybean farmers after the tariffs. After the tariffs, China’s purchases of US soybeans went to zero, yes zero. Instead of buying soybeans from the US, China instead chose to buy soybeans from Argentina and and Brazil. So the US farmers soybean’s income went to zero. To help the US soybean farmer, Trump is proposing a $32 Billion dollar bailout. In addition Trump is proposing a $20 Billion gift to Argentina to help the country’s sagging economy and $32 Billion bailout to US farmers. Trump’s tariffs will cost consumer prices to increase, US businesses to lose sales to foreign businesses and the American tax payer will not only pay more from products but be asked bailout failing businesses. This is just one example of Trump’s failing economic policy, there are more examples of his failures. Trump’s Grade – F.

Health Care: The US for years has had the highest per capita cost of health care of any country in the world. The US is currently about $13,400 with Switzerland second at about $8,000. The rest of the world are 50% or less per capita health care cost than the US. And yet we have a lower quality health than many other advanced countries. In response Trump has major cuts to Medicaid expenditures which will likely increase the total cost of health care and Americans will likely die because they cannot access quality health care. In addition, named a totally unqualified individual to be the head of CDC which impact health care negatively for years to come. Trump has also made substantial cuts to cancer and other diseases research which means will more will die as possible treatments and cures are farther in the future. Trump’s Grade – F.

Education: Thomas Jefferson said “Whenever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government” Trump believes just the opposite, that well-informed people are a threat to his power and control. Examples are his attacks on colleges and universities. Trump’s objective of defunding and eliminating the Department of Education will make less likely if not impossible for low-income students to get a reasonable education. Trump has minimal if any knowledge of any part of science which includes health care. Trump’s Grade – F.

Infrastructure: During the Biden presidency the $1.2 Trillion a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law [BIL] was passed investing in US infrastructure. Trump’s infrastructure plan did not pass during his first presidency and currently he is trying to reduce or end the BIL. Much of our infrastructure is outdated and needs to be rebuilt. In addition, investment in infrastructure creates jobs and provide economic growth. Trump’s Grade – F.

Gun Violence: Gun violence continues to be a significant risk and economic drain for our country. Trump supports the continued profits of the gun industry without any regulation at the cost of US lives, especially the lives of children. Trump’s Grade – F.

Immigration: Trump’s immigration plan should be judged both on its short-term and long-term effects. Long-term, a number of analyses have found that Trump’s immigration plan will have significant negative economic impact. For example, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania estimated in July 2025 that a four-year mass deportation plan could increase the federal deficit by $350 billion and reduce GDP by 1% annually. Short-term, about 70% of ICE detainees have no criminal record and of the remaining 30%, the vast majority have only minor criminal offenses. The small percentage which have hard core criminal offenses could have been easily identified and arrested individually. Trump’s immigration has negative short-term and long-term economic affect and has lead to the deportation of tens of thousands of individuals who were contributing to the American economy. The fear and devastation the policy has brought to many families along with the turmoil to our society is unforgivable. Trump’s Grade – F.

Foreign Relations: Mexico is the US’s largest trading partner and Canada is second. They are both neighbors and used to be close friends. Trump enforced substantial tariff’s on both countries. He is threatened Mexico with sanctions, additional tariffs, and even military action. He has also threatened to annex Canada to make it a 51st state. Canada who used to our best friend is no longer. In July of this year, Pew Research did a survey of 24 European countries and found that about 80% of these countries “had no confidence” in Trump and his administration. The US’s forever friends, Canada, Mexico and the majority of Europe are no longer our friends. Rather, Trump is friends with the dictators in Russia and North Korea. Trump’s Grade – F.

Democracy & Justice: Trump has said Americans wants a dictator and has not followed US laws in many of his actions. No American wants a dictator and anyone who lives here and wants a dictator has no understanding our country’s histories and laws. Trump’s Grade – F

Summary
I could add a few more issues but enough for now. If you disagree, rather than tell me, please write your own report card based on issues that are important to you and then make your report available to the public. Include documented sources of information and analysis. For example, the increasing frequency and cost of natural disasters is easy to verify. In my estimation, Trump’s overall grade of F is accurate and does not bode well for country as long is he and his supporters are in power.
